I am a theoretical physicist, specializing in the interplay between cosmology and fundamental physics. I am interested in using the tools of quantum field theory to explain the behavior of the universe, and in thinking of the cosmos as a one-time experiment allowing us to read the innermost secrets of nature written across the sky.
I am Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences, and Thomas S. Gates Jr. Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pennsylvania. I was also a founding co-Director of Penn’s Center for Particle Cosmology.
